Pro Take

You can do this yourself. Or you can stop chasing it.

The right gallon count keeps you from chasing chemistry all summer. If the number still feels off, A&M can measure the pool and run a full water panel on-site.

How to test

Get the reading before you dose

No test kit needed. You only need length, width, and average depth.

  • Use average depth, not the deepest point.
  • Round final gallons to the nearest 100, not the nearest 5,000.
  • Use this as a planning estimate for dosing calculators.

FAQ

Pool Volume Calculator FAQs

Which measurements does this pool volume calculator need?

For rectangles it needs length, width, and average depth. For round pools it needs diameter and average depth. Oval, kidney, and freeform estimates use the closest average length, width, and depth you can measure.

How should I enter average depth for a sloped pool?

Measure the shallow end and deep end, then average them only if the slope is even. For a hopper or long shallow shelf, take extra depth readings and use the depth that represents most of the water.

Can I use this gallon estimate in the other calculators?

Yes. Use the rounded gallon result as the pool gallons input for chlorine, acid, salt, stabilizer, alkalinity, calcium, and shock doses. A wrong gallon count is the fastest way to under-dose or over-dose every product.
